Getting ready...

Our California trip is coming up far too quickly and that countdown chain is getting awfull short. 

Tom leaves for a Bahamas missions trip one week from today, my parents arrive on the 17th, Tom gets home two days after that and we all board Amtrak on the 21st for a 5 day trip out West.

I haven't exactly started pulling out the suitcases yet, but we have been getting ready:

We're practicing sleeping in smaller beds.  Those roomette beds are a little smaller than we're used to!  And rumor has it that they're a bit more firm, too.

We've been spending time in smaller spaces, getting ready for several days on the train.

And we've been doing a little bit of summer shopping.  We won't have a chance to do laundry while we're on the train, so we've got to have 5 decent outfits each.   I think we're finally there. 

We've still got quite a list of things that have to be taken care of before we leave, but it's getting a little shorter each day as we all get a little more excited.   I've actually decided not to list on eBay this summer while we're gone (a first!), and my studio is officially closed for vacation until the end of July (at least for work-related scrapbooking).   I decided a true vacation was much needed.

And I can't wait!

I'm excited to read about your train trip! Will you have wi-fi on the train? I'm interested in how the little beds are too. I imagine the old Hollywood movie trains like in North by Northwest...maybe you'll meet Cary Grant on the train....

I'm not sure if we'll have wi-fi, but my Mom has an iPhone. I'm really thinking I might start a Twitter account before we go so I can at least update that way.
